The Tate Family ~ January 31, 2008

Filed under: Babies!!, Families, Photography, Portraits — Barbie Hull @ 1:09 am

Lori heard about me through Heather & Janine (featured many times on the blog) at our fabulous Conscious Body Pilates studio in Madison Park. She emailed and said she was looking for some fun artistic family photos (my favorite kind) - she & husband Byron have a beautiful 6 month old named Camber (love the name!) I was so excited to meet Lori and her family - they are fun and beautiful people who live in a beautiful home with lots of natural light. Perfect for those sunny January days where it is MUCH too cold to be outside for longer than two minutes! =)

Here is a sneak peek at our little photo session.

Enjoy!

Christy & Rogan ~ Engaged!! January 30, 2008

Filed under: Engagment, Photography, Portraits — Barbie Hull @ 2:53 am

I had the privilege of meeting Christy & Rogan at their good friends Nena & Charlie’s wedding about a year and a half ago. Christy was a bridesmaid and Rogan an usher. (fun!) They were in town for just a few short weeks over the winter break so we took the opportunity to sneak in a little rainy photo session at the sculpture park downtown Seattle.

We had such a great time, I can’t wait for their wedding which is planned for this coming July at Parson’s Gardens in upper Queen Anne. (such a beautiful place for a wedding!)

Here are a few of my favorite images from our portrait session. Enjoy!

Partying for a Cause! January 28, 2008

Filed under: Advertising, Events, Photography — Barbie Hull @ 8:22 pm

Hello all!!

Get out your calendars and mark down Saturday February 2nd - 8pm at The Little Red Studio (Harrison & Dexter)

It is the place to be this coming weekend and it is for a good cause!

(a little background)

Lindsey & Tracy (photo below) took a trip to Peru with their friends from Crooked Trails - they fell in love with this little village and all of the people in it. The people in the town are working hard to raise money to build a school -most kids have to walk 5 miles to school each day and end up dropping out around 6th grade to help the family by working. When Tracy & Lindsey found out they only needed to raise $25k to fund the entire building - they thought, “We can do that!” And then the idea for the Venetian Masked Carnival Ball was born.

They are bringing Venice’s Carnival to Seattle.  It will be a night of fun, flirtation and frivolity — all for a good cause.  Local Bossa Nova Band, Passarim, will start off the night. KEXP DJ Darek Mazzone will spin World Pop tunes throughout the night. Geoffrey Castle will amaze you with his electric violin.  Performers from Pure Cirkus will entertain you throughout the night with their trapeze acts, belly dancing, stilt walking and acrobatics.  Beautiful Miss Indigo Blue will dazzle you with her Burlesque moves. There’s a surprise and delight for the senses around every corner.  Ticket price includes: 2 free drink tickets, Italian heavy appetizers, a dessert bar including cupcakes from Cupcake Royale, all-night entertainment and drink specials from SKYY Vodka, Kestrel Winery, Peroni Italian Beer and Dry Soda.

Girl Power Hour January 21, 2008

Girl Power Hour created by Darnell Sue & Samantha Lawton (two super fabulous gals)… It is hard to explain - technically its a networking group but realistically it is fun filled evening of drinks, prizes and mingling. So fun! Check out their website - www.girlpowerhour.com - you can learn all about the charities, artists, and fabulous women they support. On January 17th the event was hosted by Val at Solo - a super cute little bar in Queen Anne that I will definately be visiting again soon. =)

Trophy has the best cupcakes in all the land! 047hull011708-copy.jpg052hull011708-copy.jpgEach party has a different non-profit charity in which you can donate to. This particular one is called Women of Purpose ~ the necklaces were for sale at a very reasonable price $35-$50 and everything goes towards helping to stop exploitation and trafficking of women & girls. Here is a link to their site. 054hull011708-copy.jpg075hull011708-copy.jpgRebecca Agiewich is a hilarious writer (she read a passage from her book at the event) who went through a rough breakup and wrote an insanely funny book called the Breakup Babe on her take of the entire event. Good read! Here is a link to her blog (where she got started!)

Laurel McConnell ~ Photographer Extraordinaire! January 21, 2008

Hello! This will be a silly post - Every week I talk with business owners about the importance of good photographs - if you want people to know who you are, that you are indeed a real person and that you aren’t some creepy, crazy maniac. A good portrait of you will help people relate to you & will show professionalism (or whatever the message is you wish to convey). So, if you know me you probably know one or more of the sites I have profiles on…. barbiehull.com, blog, myspace, linkedin, biznik, facebook, (coming soon) and all of them have ZERO photos of me (well good ones anyway). This is ridiculous considering I am a photographer and half of my friends are too. (we know its important, but actually getting around to doing it is a bit scary!)

Laurel The Superstar McConnell (of Laurel McConnell Photography) agreed to take my photos last week (like she had a choice… hee hee). So we headed down to Georgetown - our first stop was the Tully’s (used to be Ranier) brewery and then to a few abandoned buildings where we laughed, shivered, laughed some more, looked into the sun (so bright) and of course jumped of stairs. Laurel is SO awesome - I mean she always has been a fabulous photographer - but to be photographed by her is the greatest! I am not so comfortable in front of the lens (silly ones are great, but real photos are scary!) and Laurel made it a fun experience. Time flew by so fast I didn’t want the afternoon to end. =0) Thanks Laurel - you are the greatest!!

Here are links to her site & blog check em out!!

Below you will find a couple of the fun shots Laurel took. (it is so funny seeing photos of yourself… ridiculous)

Leave the organizing to the professionals! January 11, 2008

Filed under: Advertising, BNI, Photography, Portraits — Barbie Hull @ 4:54 pm

Amy Gray & Daisha Kissel are two fabulously fun gals from Empty Your Nest Professional Organizing  and they are here to help organize the world! =) While they both cover all the different areas of organizing, Daisha specializes in extreme clutter and hoarding issues. She works with her clients for long periods of time to sort through, recycle, toss out and donate all that stuff that has piled up in their homes. Amy is on the other end - she loves the Feng Shui side of organizing which helps get the Qi (life energy) moving in your home - to create a better feeling, so not only is your home organized, but it is also pleasant to be in.

Amy gave a presentation at our BNI meeting yesterday about Feng Shui and I cannot wait for her to come and help me in my new place!!

Amy & Daisha needed some new photos of the two of them for their website and for the newsletter they send out each month.  We wanted to show how fabulous, friendly and fun they are to work with. Check out their site - and of course, you should sign up for the newsletter - lots of tips on how to get your life organized!! http://www.emptyyournest.com

We had such a good time talking about…. well actually I think we just laughed the whole time!

Enjoy!
