On Tuesday morning I drove up to the market and found some rockstar parking – but I noticed this guy running up to each passerby asking a question and it ended with them shaking their heads and walking away quickly. Being the wimp that I am – I debated moving the car and looking for new parking. This was a REALLY good spot – and I just couldn’t give it up. So I busied myself in my car looking around and hoping he would go away – finally I had to get out so I put my head down and bee lined it for the meter, I didn’t make it. As soon as I heard his voice I knew he was nice – he was very young and seemed sweet. He asked if he could write me a poem because he was working on a book and needed some inspiration. So of course I said yes, I ran and got some coffee and when I came back this is the poem he had written. (What a fun start to the day – I love people in the city!)

Before a mirror of perfection, A wonder of a smile in cosmic beauty Rests upon a mountain of dreams to Bring a golden seed into your Inner right, in an Embrace of burning rose that it grows to become, for your life’s most precious Truth.
It was a blast from the past a few weeks ago when Ryan called me up to let me know that he & Jamie were expecting their 2nd child and it was about time to do some family photos. – You see Ryan & Jamie were THE VERY FIRST couple to trust me in photographing their wedding – YAY! THANK YOU!! I couldn’t wait, it had been much too long since our last run in and now they have the sweetest little girl and soon to be the sweetest little boy (I can’t wait to meet him!) We spent an afternoon playing at a park by their West Seattle (dream) home!
Here are a couple of images from our day in the sun:

In Patrica’s Words:
1) How long have you been in your business? How about BNI? I’ve been a marketing professional, specifically a brand manager, for major companies for over 15 years. I’ve been working with BNI since the beginning of 2009. One of my current clients, Caliber Cleaning Inc., is a long-time BNI member and I am helping them grow their business in new directions.
2) What made you choose to join the Madison Marketeers? (over other groups) Madison Marketeers has helped my client reach out to a more targeted group of potential customers. And the Madison marketeers are a very vibrant and talented group of business people– a pleasure to work with in growing businesses.
3) Is there anything you specialize in with your business? My passion is brands– helping companies develop new products and launching them into the marketplace to meet consumer needs.
4) What sets you apart from your competitors? What sets me apart as a marketing consultant is I listen well to my clients and work hard to meet their business needs. I am very creative and flexible in my approach–thinking outside the box is one way to express what I do for clients. In addition to small businesses, I’ve gained experience working this way for such industry leaders as Procter & Gamble, Hershey Foods, Shell and Green Mountain Energy.
5) What are your goals? My goals include continuing to assist Caliber — truly a dream client– in the BNI process. I would also like to continue to build my consulting practice and help others grow their businesses.
6) Where can people find you or read about you? People can learn more about ‘Patti Betz’ and my work at: www.linkedin.com/in/patriciabetz

I’m an avid volunteer and currently involved in efforts to improve public education in our state to give all students a world-class education.
8) What is one interesting fact about you? One interesting fact– I won the 2001 Telly Gold award as Executive Producer for the best :30 television commercial never aired! Tellys are like the Golden Globes for advertising.

This morning was a fun surprise! (Okay… I knew it was coming, because I filled out the answers, BUT I was excited to be asked!) Sage Wedding Pros – one of my favorite daily reads (GREAT advice for small business owners specifically in the wedding industry) they do the “insider to insider” each Friday and today its me! HERE is a link – and here is a sneak peak snapshot:
Alaina & Sumit are such a wonderful couple – we hit it off right off the bat and felt more like friends than anything! I can’t even to begin to explain the perfection of the wedding day – people came from all over the world to be here for the celebration, the toasts were incredible, the dancing was FABULOUS & best of all Sumit & Alaina are so obviously in love you can’t help but be happy for them!
I was even more excited after I heard about their wedding crew (working with fabulous vendors makes the day fun and a guaranteed success!) The wedding took place at Lord Hill Farms, the gorgeous custom invites were done by Michelle Loretta of mmm…paper, hair & makeup was by Erin Skipley of Bellatrix Studio, the music for the ceremony & reception was Austin Beaver of Nitelite Entertainment and for the photos I had the pleasure of working with the very talented Jennifer Richard. Their big day was in April and we were SO lucky to have a bright sunny day!
Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day …. GORGEOUS!!

It is Wednesday again and that means – BNI Business Spotlight!! Today the blog is featuring Richard Chadek – a longtime member of the group and a great friend! He is a personal coach – helping people find themselves through tough, confusing, trying, good & overwhelmingly good times, if there is a change in your life, or if you want a change in your life he is a great person to talk to! I find that I feel like a better person after having a one to one with Richard – he is a great listener, a great story teller and a great person!
Not long ago we met at the fabulous cafe “Remedy Teas” in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, we talked business, life and of course BNI. Here is a photo of our featured member:

Who are you? Richard Chadek
What do you do & Where? Personal Development Coach, Seattle
How can we reach you?:
richard@RichardChadek.com
5107 South Adams
Seattle, WA 98118
(206) 723-4128
In Richard’s words:
1) How long have you been in your business? 6 Years How about BNI? Starting my 5th year
2) What made you choose to join the Madison Marketeers? Primarily the inviting energy of the group, but you were one of two members of the group at that time that impressed me with your enthusiasm, openness and graciousness.
3) What has BNI done for your business? Between 30 and 40% of my clients come through BNI related referrals
4) What are your goals? Instead of goals, I focus on the one thing that I want to conserve—the one thing that is so important to me that I allow everything else to change for the sake of maintaining it. For me, the quality I focus on conserving is that of being ‘alive’. When I start to feel that I’m ‘not interested’, or notice myself becoming closed to something, I recognize that as the beginnings of ‘going dead’ and I start wondering what it would be like, or what it might take, for me to be more alive, right now, in whatever it is I’m doing. In that way, I keep my attention on what I’m choosing, or not choosing, in this moment. That doesn’t mean I give up wanting to have, say, 3 more clients. But the clients really aren’t the goal: having more clients will happen if that’s part of really choosing to be alive.
5) What do you like most about work? The privilege of being trusted to participate in someone’s process of change.
6) What is an average day like for you? I have tea with my wife, run or take my PWD for a walk in Seward Park, see clients, read (among my current ones: The Gone Away World), cook or do housework, spend some time in the garden…
7) Is there anything you specialize in with your business? Helping people discover what it is that makes it possible to go beyond the limitations they encounter, whether the limitation is in their work, their relationships or in the pursuit of what they desire.
8) What sets you apart from your competitors? Most other coaches help people do what they already know to do better. I help my clients shift their way of being so they see entirely new possibilities that were not visible before.
9) Any Hobbies?? Gardening, Running, Mountaineering
10) Why did you get into this business? I’ve always been fascinated by human development in adulthood—the development of consciousness.
11) What is one interesting fact about you? I had a 25 year career in real estate development and construction management… (how interesting is that?)
So, if you know someone who would like to see the world in a new & brighter way – have them call Richard! The first hour is a free consultation to see if it is a good fit, so there are no risks! Give him a call! Here is his info one more time:
