Girls Gone Green!! April 20, 2008
Just when you think an already wonderful event couldn’t get any better…. it does! Samantha Lawton & Darnell Sue - the creators of Girl Power Hour have continued to amaze us ladies of Seattle. They first started GPH just a few short months ago, a networking hour where girls get together, they network - gossip - win prizes - try fabulous new drinks and of course learn about a new business or in this months case that it is Good to be Green!
Last night (April 17th) was the Girl Goes Green version of GPH - the party was at Sole Repair in Capitol Hill…. WOW!! What an amazing space. (I want it!!!! It would be THE perfect studio!) They not only had MANY featured green businesses such as: Bamboo Beats (seattle’s first green DJ), Interra, Olivine, A Fresh squeeze, Dry Soda and so the entire list HERE,
but they also (I’m SO impressed) had TWO film crews, TWO photographers, & so many models featured in their sustainable clothing fashion show!!
Um… How COOL! Okay -enough chit chat, here are a few of the shots from last nights extravaganza ~ Enjoy!

There were tips on how to live a greener life displayed throughout the evening.
The GORGEOUS flowers were donated by Melissa Feveyear of Terra Bella Flowers

The first 50 lucky gals get one of these little pink tokens to exchange for a swag bag at the end of the evening. This month it was filled with all sorts of goodies!!
The doors opened at 6:30 on the dot and there was a line wrapped around the block… this is what it looked like 10 minutes into the party!!
GPH guests - Wendi from Ethereal Events, Barbara LMP, & Lisa Chambers from Chambers & Co.
A sustainable fashion show started about an hour into the party and featured sustainable clothing from Kimmi Design & Olivine Boutique.
There was an Art Institute Student photographing the event as well! YAY AIS!
Whitney Keyes was interviewing many of the ladies throughout the night.

Did you know the Pig’s name is Rachel?? And she really is a piggy bank?? People put money in her all the time! (you’ll have to go on the tour to find out what the money is used for - I was busy taking photos and not paying attention… hee hee)

(they feature artists ~ we love that!)

The first 50 ladies in the door got a fun filled swag bag!!
Um… YUM!!
Each party has a different non-profit charity in which you can donate to. This particular one is called Women of Purpose ~ the necklaces were for sale at a very reasonable price $35-$50 and everything goes towards helping to stop exploitation and trafficking of women & girls.
Rebecca Agiewich is a hilarious writer (she read a passage from her book at the event) who went through a rough breakup and wrote an insanely funny book called the Breakup Babe on her take of the entire event. Good read!
Mark your calendars - February 21st!
