On May 21st of this year (yes I am THAT behind in my blogging!) Rachael Brandt (the newest event planner with the Jewish Federation) hosted a Casino Night to raise money for the children of Israel – at the fabulous Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle the evening was a great success!! There were tables of fun games like craps, blackjack, roulette and a Texas Hold’em tourny – the prizes were great! A laptop, 2 nights at a vegas casino/hotel wine tasting – not to mention Chocolopolis gave a GREAT lesson on chocolate (yummmmm) where it comes from and how it is made – with tastings (double yummmm) and Vida Spa was there with chairs set up for hand massage and neck massage…. with all of this fabulousness it was hard to decide where to spend my time! OH YEAH! Not to mention the DELICIOUS spread of food – Yummmmm! (I’m really getting hungry now).
So the evening was a huge success and hopefully they do it again next year – I know I’d love to go! Here is a collage of photos from the evening:

Twenty amazing years ago, Lisa saw a cute boy at a party – to get his attention she told him a bad joke and he laughed. That was the moment she knew – Steve was the man for her. Being so young when they were married they didn’t have the big white wedding Lisa dreamed of – while they raised their three girls they often talked of “when we have our wedding” and talked about all the details of how they wanted to plan the party.
A few months back Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer, she battled it with everything she had – but was given the stage 4 diagnosis… the cancer had spread. Lisa has some amazing support, her loving family & her long time friends from work – they found out about Brides Against Breast Cancer & The Making Memories Foundation and told them Lisa’s story. It took only three weeks to put everything together & on Valentines day 2009 – that was the day Lisa & Steve had their dream wedding!
When the girls & I at Get Hitched Give Hope heard about Lisa & Steve we knew we had to help! (BABC & MMF are the places we donate the money raised from our October Soiree) So Eliza & I grabbed our cameras and headed over to Port Orchard to photograph this amazing event.
Lisa, Steve & the girls were more than welcoming! We felt like family by the end of the day!
Here are a few photos from the day,

There were a few articles written about this big day – in the Kitsap Sun - The South Sound Wedding Magazine, Eliza Truitt Photography, Ethereal Events
Brides Against Breast Cancer is an amazing organization – they collect gowns that are new & lightly used from girls, designers and big chains all over the country and hold gown sales. So the ladies getting married can get a great deal on their dress and help grant wishes!! Get Hitched Give Hope along with many other charities work together to raise money for these fabulous folks!! Check out their site to learn more: http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/
In February of this year Brenda and the fabulous friends in Washington State had a special viewing for a special family – Lisa & her three daughters came to pick out a dress for Lisa’s wedding – they arrived at the Bellevue Hilton in a Limo & were greeted with pink ribbon cupcakes, a cart filled with gifts from Macy’s & of course all of the fabulous volunteers at The Making Memories Foundation. You see – Lisa & her family are wish recipients!
Eliza Truitt & I were able to go out and photograph the day – ere are a few photos from the day of trying on dresses, fabulous!!

Marina Rockinger – Reporter & Anchor from Komo 1000 news covered the story – www.komonews.com

Thanks to Monir Zandghoreishi this past Friday night (February 13th) was the night of Project Red Dress – it was AMAZING! So many talented student designers from different fashion schools came together at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel (downtown Seattle) to compete in a fashion show to create awareness of heart disease in both men and women. There were some truly amazing speakers, judges and always the fabulous guests!!
Here are some shots of the evening, there were too many to narrow it down, so I made them little thumbnails so you can see all the fun of the evening!! (by just clicking on the image you want to see!)
Gene Juarez technicians volunteered to do the hair & makeup (GORGEOUS!) The pre-party was at the COOLEST place in Seattle to buy clutches, bags, purses – all the fabulous things a gal needs – CLUTCH! The hostesses for the evening were my VERY favorite girls from the LADIES ROOM – Brooke & Monti!! Oh – and you’ll love this one, one of the fabulous judges was Nick Verreos from PROJECT RUNWAY!! whoohoo!!
I hope you love the photos – because I had a GREAT time!!

Tuesday was an exciting day – in my mailbox was the latest edition of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, a nice little note and a big flag on page 46….. check it out!
We super love Dixie, Laura & all the folks from Seattle Metropolitan Magazine for the amazing write up in the magazine, the full page of photos (taken by Jeff LaPlante) and of course all of their support from Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom in our adventures! You will always be the favorite!!!
On November 1st Excel Coatings rallied up about 20 volunteers to paint the YWCA Seattle. Headed up by Excel’s owner Ryan Barr & project manager David Koewler they teamed up with The Master Builders Association and we all painted 3 rooms at the Seattle location of the YWCA. People were SO generous with their time – driving in from all parts of the city & even as far as the Chehalis area!! (THANK YOU!!)
If you are interested in finding out more about the YWCA and all they offer click HERE.
It is so nice that even in an economic down time there are people who can still look at the bigger picture and see that there are people much less fortunate than us and with very little effort we can brighten their day!!
It was a lot of fun getting together with people and painting the rooms – here is a collage of our Saturday morning:
Here is an email sent out by the YWCA -
Thank you Excel Coatings and all the volunteers who helped with Painting a Better Tomorrow!
Wow! What a fantastic job Excel Coatings employees, colleagues, friends, and family did on November 1st for Master Builders Association’s Painting a Better Tomorrow. You made three of our program spaces look like new with a fresh and clean coat of paint. Your hard work and generosity transformed the YWCA and our clients, employees, donors, and volunteers benefit from your efforts. We can’t thank all of you enough for your dedication in giving back to the community and improving the quality of life for women and their families.
From all of us at YWCA Opportunity Place, we thank you!
